Home Equity Loans

Tap into your home equity with a second home loan or cash out refinance. Use equity release to access funds for renovations, investments, or consolidating debt—without changing your current mortgage.

What Is a Home Equity Loan?

A home equity loan lets you borrow money using the equity you've built in your home. You can use these funds to invest in property or shares, consolidate debt, renovate, or cover major lifestyle costs.

With property values having climbed across much of Australia in recent years, many homeowners now have untapped equity. Using that equity to grow your investment portfolio could be one of the smartest ways to generate passive income in today’s market.

Upgrade Your Lifestyle

Access funds to renovate your home, buy a new car or boat, or enjoy major life events like a wedding or holiday.

Simplify Your Finances

Consolidate high-interest debts like credit cards or personal loans into your home loan and reduce your monthly repayments.

Plan for Life’s Milestones

Use your equity to cover unexpected costs such as medical expenses or to support lifestyle changes like maternity leave.

Is An Equity Loan Suitable For Me?

We generally recommend using a home equity loan only if you have a clear plan for the funds and the discipline to manage repayments. Without a strategy, it’s easy to use the money on lifestyle spending without considering how it will be repaid.

In most cases, you can release equity up to 80% of your property’s value (less what you still owe) without incurring extra costs. Some lenders offer up to 90% LVR, but this usually comes with a one-off Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) premium. Keep in mind that equity release usually involves refinancing your current loan as part of the process.
